Dr. Wilbur has been a family nurse practitioner for more than 26 years in roles that include faculty and patient care practice in primary care. She is currently an Associate Professor and Family Nurse Practitioner at West Chester University in West Chester Pennsylvania. In her role as an educator, she prepares future nursing leaders as nurse educators and adult/gerontology clinical specialists in the MSN and DNP programs. She holds expertise in online course design and teaches 100% online for both programs. Previous faculty roles for 20 years included the Chair of the NP program and DNP program at Wilmington University in New Castle Delaware.

She maintains a current FNP practice in Claymont, Delaware, in primary care, and walk-in health care with a special expertise in the management of patients with Type 2 Diabetes as a family nurse practitioner.  Other areas of expertise within primary care include treatment of sleep disorders and concussions.  Her philosophy about the patient and family care focuses on patient engagement.

Her educational preparation includes a BSN from the University of Delaware, MSN in Burn, Emergency, Trauma, and Ph.D. in Nursing Science from Widener University in Chester, PA and Postmasters certificate as FNP from Wilmington University.  She is a co-editor of an advanced pharmacology book and has contributed to clinical guidelines for nurse practitioners.  Her presentations include many topics for nurse practitioner education and clinical topics about antimicrobial stewardship, concussions, and care of patients with insomnia in primary care. She has presented many years at the AANP National Conference. Dr. Wilbur holds local and national leadership positions in the Delaware Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, and previously in the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty.  As a fellow, she is a reviewer of abstracts and scholarships for the national AANP conference since 2013. Currently, in 2021, she is the FAANP Nominations Committee Chair.
