Dr. Kristi A. Acker is an Associate Professor at the University of Alabama and maintains a robust clinical practice. She has a longstanding commitment to advancing palliative care competency within advanced practice. She was instrumental in developing a communication simulation to equip nurse practitioner students in delivering difficult news.  Her expertise includes oncology, family practice, and palliative care. Dr. Acker has authored or co-authored several contributions in journals and textbooks and has received several awards and honors in her field. Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner, she holds dual specialty certifications in oncology and palliative care.
