Lorna L Schumann PhD, NP-C, APRN-BC, FNP, ACNP, FAAN, FAANP

Dr. Schumann is a family nurse practitioner who is a recognized clinical expert in family practice and acute care. She is certified in Family practice, Acute Care, Emergency NP and as an Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist.  She is also involved in the education of nurses and nurse practitioners and in countries without adequate health resources. Her clinical expertise is varied and includes inpatient and outpatient work covering the full array of clinical conditions. Her primary area of research is in Gender Inequality in Women and risk for developing HIV in developing countries. 

Dr. Lorna Schumann has been a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners since 1994 and involved in the Certification Program since 1996.  Her commitments to the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Certification Program includes serving: as Chair of the AANP Certification Program, 2008-2011 and 2013 to 2016, 2021 to present, Vice Chair 2017-2018 and Treasurer of AANPCP, 2006-2008.  She also has been an active member of the Fellows of the American Association of Nurse Practitioner since 2001 and served as treasurer for 3 years.  She serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of the AANP.

Internationally, she has served as co-chair of the International Council of Nurses Advance Practice Nursing Network Research Committee and is currently an alumnus of the ICN NP/APN Network. 

She has done medical work in Crimea, Ukraine, Egypt, Liberia, Ecuador, Honduras, Guatemala, India, Thailand, and Vietnam and is enthusiastic about helping people in countries that lack resources for health care and health education.
