Dr. Valerie Fuller is a Family and Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner who has been in practice for more than 25 years. She works clinically in the Department of Surgery at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine.

She is the current Region 1 Director for AANP and serves on The Journal for Nurse Practitioners editorial board. She served as the AANP Maine State Representative from 2014-2020, on the AANP Fellows Selection Committee from 2019-2021 and as chair of the AANP Nurse Practitioner Education and Sustainment Committee from 2020-2021.

She is a past president of the Maine Nurse Practitioner Association (MNPA), having served on its executive board for 5 years. During her tenure as MNPA president she was instrumental in passing the global signature bill and in forming the APRN advisory committee to the Maine State Board of Nursing. She is actively engaged in local, state, and national policy of interest to NPs.
