Cindy Cooke DNP, FNP-C, FAANP

Dr. Cindy Cooke is adjunct faculty at the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND in the MSN-DNP program.  She is a family nurse practitioner retired from the primary care clinic at a military clinic in Huntsville, AL.  This clinic serves active duty, military retirees and their families and provides full scope primary care to the beneficiaries.  She served as the Sexual Assault Clinical Provider for Redstone Arsenal for many years prior to her retirement.

Dr. Cooke has a diploma in nursing from Mary Meek School of Nursing in Abilene, TX, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Texas Arlington and a Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Alabama Huntsville in the family nurse practitioner track. She completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at the University of Alabama Birmingham with a focus on health literacy.

Dr. Cooke has been active in local, state and national NP organizations since her graduation. She is past president of North Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association (NANPA), the founding president of the Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama (NPAA), past AANP state representative for Alabama, past AANP Region 11 Director and past AANP President.  Dr. Cooke has been active in speaking locally and nationally on various clinical and health policy topics. She was selected as a Fellow of AANP in 2009.

Dr. Cooke is married and currently resides in Huntsville, AL. She enjoys family activities with their adult children, sports, singing in a female a cappella group and travels extensively. She is a member of numerous professional organizations including NANPA, NPAA, Sigma Theta Tau and AANP.
