Mary B Neiheisel EdD, MSN, CNS, FNP, FAANP, FNAP

Dr. Neiheisel, professor of Nursing, LGMC Endowed Professorship ii, is currently a Nursing Professor at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. A family nurse practitioner, she is in clinical practice at Faith House in Lafayette. She served as the initial Graduate Nursing Coordinator at ULL and the Family Nurse Practitioner coordinator. Her honors include U.L. Foundation Distinguished Professor; Rotarian of the Year; Woman of Excellence Award by the Lafayette Commission on the Needs of Women; Outstanding Nurse of Acadiana; and Outstanding Citizen Award by the City-Parish President, inaugural FAANP chair award, 2015 Faith House Employee of the Year, Rotary Club of Lafayette Vocational Service Award, Friend of NONPF award, and Zonta Woman of Achievement Award.   She assisted evacuees in the Cajun dome shelter following Katrina. Dr. Neiheisel's efforts in the Homeless Education Program were multiplied after Katrina. She is extraordinarily involved in the community serving on many community boards. Research has included burnout in nurse practitioners, attitudes of victims of domestic violence, compassion fatigue, depression in domestic violence survivors and a survey of expectations and descriptions of nurse practitioner preceptors. Dr. Neiheisel is a member of many professional organizations.  She is also a Paul Harris Fellow and a Fellow of NAP.
