Barbara L Sheer
PhD, PNP, FNP, FAANP
Barbara Sheer, PhD, PNP, FNP, FAANP is Professor Emeritus at the University of Delaware School of Nursing and a consultant in Nurse Consultant Associates (NCA). Dr. Sheer has been actively involved in the NP movement since 1976 and has held regional, state, national and international positions in NP organizations. Among those positions were ICN - Nurse Practitioner/ Advanced Practice Nursing Core Steering Group, chair of the FAANP, president of the Academy, and chair of the National Alliance of NPs. She developed and directed the first NP program in the state of Delaware and was an NLNAC site visitor. She has consulted with NP programs nationally and internationally and has facilitated international NP conferences. As a former Public Health Policy Fellow, she continues to work with multidisciplinary groups to forward the primary care agenda. Currently she is an ANCC Magnet Hospital Appraiser, an NCA consultant and lectures nationally and internationally.
